OVERVIEW

What is Bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping is the systematic recording, organising and storing of every financial transaction a business makes — sales, purchases, receipts and payments — to maintain accurate books of account as required under Indian law.

Under Section 44AA of the Income Tax Act, businesses with gross receipts above ₹25 lakh or income above ₹2.5 lakh must maintain books. Section 128 of the Companies Act requires all registered companies to keep books at the registered office. Bookkeeping covers journals, ledgers, AP/AR, bank reconciliation and trial balance. We provide bookkeeping only — we do not act as statutory auditor. Section 144 bars the same person from providing both bookkeeping/accounting and statutory audit to the same company.
